A new robotic worm drill named NiLiBoRo has been designed. The drill can be used to preform operations on the inner ear where access is difficult, enabling surgeons to steer around tightly packed blood vessels and nerves. The surgery is performed through a 5mm hole instead of removing the mastoid bone.
