BEA Systems is now using virtual reality to design its products. the company has is installed 5 interlinked suites at Scotstoun shipyard, and one each at its Portsmouth and Filton bases. The system which can allow designs and engineers to see the "finished" product in the design stage,

The system is currently being used to develop offshore patrol vessels and  the Type 26 Destroyer
